Melanie opened the Flying Lotus studio on August 28, 2021 after 8 years of practicing aerial silks. Melanie became hooked on aerial upon attending an aerial recital to see a friend perform. She thought that there was something magical about seeing someone suspended in the air looking graceful while defying gravity.

Since beginning aerial, Melanie has grown passionate for the art because it has been an outlet for her to decompress, a form of meditation, a place to build physical strength, all while providing endless ways to challenge your mind and body.

Outside of being an owner and instructor at Flying Lotus, Melanie is also a mother of five, a photography business owner, and an avid shoe lover.
